Current Skincare Favourites – Blemish Prone Skin

April 12, 2017

If you struggle or have struggled with blemish prone skin, you must know how hard it can be at times to control it. My skin is currently looking better than I’ve seen in years, and it’s mainly for the products I use that help me fight the tendency to of having breakouts. I’m gonna share with my current skin saving products!

First of all, let me tell you a bit of information on my skin. I have combination skin – pretty much the hardest skin type to take care of – and it’s very prone to blemishes, redness and also flakiness and dry patches! I’ve been using a combination of products to help me with all of these problems, so if you share any with me, stick with me.

Nº1 L’Oréal Exfoliating Gel (Red Clay)

Now this product, was one of the best and most useful things I’ve ever bought. I started using it a few weeks ago and since then have seen a huge difference not only on the texture of my skin, which became much smoother, but also the reduction of my pores (which is a big problem for me).

How I use it: I like using this in the shower. After a few minutes in the hot water, my pores will be open and the exfoliation will work best. I do this daily.

Nº2 L’Oréal Hydra Genius Hydrating Cream

This is the hydration cream I have been using twice a day for a few weeks now. I put it on at night before sleep, and lately I’ve also been using it as my day moisturizer, that I apply before makeup.
There are three version available, and I’m using the one for combination skin. It has worked perfectly, it’s not overly oily nor it is overly drying – it’s very smooth on the face and creates a perfect canvas for foundation.

Nº3 Avène Cicalfate (for my acne scars)

Avène is one of my favourite brands of all time – I have around half of all of their products at this point… this cream however, it’s the first time I’m trying it. It’s made for sensitive skin and it’s supposed to use with scars, so I’m using it to help with my leftover acne scars. I’ve only been using it for about a week and a half now, but I have seen some difference already. I do think that the more deep rooted scars won’t be affected by it, although it has helped with lighter scars and will help with future ones. Also helps with redness!
How I use it: I put it on after I shower and in the morning after I clean my face. After that, I put on my moisturizing cream.

Nº4 Pure & Clear Acne Treatment Gel by Nelsons

This product I’ve been using sporadically for a few months. I put the gel on top of any existing pimple and by the next day, it’s gone. It feels very fresh on your face, and because this is a natural brand, you don’t have to be worried about how it will react to your skin, it’s very gentle!

Nº5 Nivea Nourishing Body Milk

And because skincare is not just for our faces, here’s my body lotion favourites. Nivea is another one of my favourite brands, and this body milk works wonders. I hate how some body lotions leave you feeling sticky for hours, so it can be hard for me to find a lotion I can use daily. This nourishing body milk is perfect exactly because of how lightweight it is, being very nourishing at the same time. I use everyday after shower, and it takes only a few minutes for it to dry completely and just leave you feeling all smooth!

Nº6 Beauty blender

I know this may sound funny, but the beauty blender actually helps a lot, weather it is for foundation or for skincare products. If you apply your creams or sunscreen with the beauty blender, it will.. well, blender better – which is exactly what we want when it comes to these products that care of our skin.

Note: If you know of a proper way to clean beauty blenders, leave a comment down below! I keep washing mine, but the stains of the foundation stay… Oh well.

Nº7 Clay Masks by De Tuinen

I had my first experience with this Dutch brand when I bought two of their clay masks – one green clay mask, and one red clay mask. The red one, I wouldn’t recommend, specially if you have sensitive skin! It’s very aggressive on the skin, as I used it for maybe one minute and had to take it off. However, their green mask is great. It’s very soothing, but it still does it’s job in smoothing down your skin.

Nº8 Charcoal Mask by 7th Heaven

When it comes to skincare, there’s nothing I love more than a good face mask. I have just recently discovered 7th Heaven and I’m already a fan. I tried their charcoal mask, which comes with walnut seeds that exfoliate, making it a 2 in 1 mask. My skin is incredibly soft and smooth after taking off this mask, it’s wonderful.
Next up I’m gonna try one of their peel off masks to really take care of these pores.
Note: This brand is 100% natural and animal friendly, which is another plus.

If you decide to try any of these products out, I hope they help you as much as they’ve helped me clear my blemishes and give a new light to my skin!

Love,
Mia
